#CPMyPlayground Competition

ChildsPlay, IntriCut

We are delighted to launch our fantastic ChildsPlay competition for schools in the UK!

We are inviting pupils to use their imagination to draw a picture for our designers to interpret into a real life play mat. The subject could be anything, from your school building to an outer space adventure! For inspiration see our latest playground installation which was inspired by one child’s painting.

If you are looking to develop or upgrade your playground this is an excellent opportunity to produce a bespoke play space; or alternatively a unique branded entry area or portable play carpet suitable for indoor and outdoor activities.

The winning school will receive a 2m x 2m artificial turf mat, cut out in to the design of the chosen child’s drawing ready to be installed in the format or location that you choose.

To enter download the entry form and either post your submissions to: Notts Sport Ltd, Innovation House, Magna Park, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, LE17 4XH or email to kirstyb@nottssport.com. The closing date for submissions is March 31st.

We’d also love to see your designs on social media, so tweet a photo of your entries using @NS_ChildsPlay and #CPMyPlayground, and we will share the best designs!

St Edwards College in Liverpool is a prime example of a resurface project that took just 7 weeks to complete, once Fast Track Funding was secured. John Bennett, Head of Multi-Sports at Notts Sport, was on board to offer project management; design and maintenance advice throughout:

“We worked with John Bennett who was great: Really helpful, reliable and saw the project through from start to finish. He told us about Fast Track Funding, and within a couple of weeks it was all set up and we were ready to go, so it happened really really quickly: very simple.”

“Fast Track Funding enabled us to be able to fund this and pay it back over a number of years, so it was a great benefit for us.” Karen Vitalis, Chief Financial Officer, St Edwards College.

The timeline above shows how quickly the project developed after the initial pitch condition survey.

How one child’s painting became the inspiration for a new community playground…

The Lincoln Avenue Knightswood community-funded playground in Glasgow is an inspirational project that demonstrates how imagination can shape the future of play.

This creative space in the built-up residential location of inner-city Glasgow is a project that started life as a colourful painting by a young competition winner at a local primary school.

Notts Sport‘s CAD department worked to develop a design based on an artist’s impression of the original painting, creating a fun depiction of the world with oversized houses, clouds and trees.

The design was then intricately cut out of synthetic ChildsPlay surfacing and installed in the centre of the play area, surrounded by ‘zones’ of bright coloured carpet to encourage imaginative play. The eye catching space is unusual because it doesn’t use traditional play equipment to fill the space. Instead, children are allowed to make up their own games and develop play freely in a sensory environment.

With the launch of IntriCut, Notts Sport’s innovative in-house cutting service, creatively cut play spaces like this are being installed up and down the country. IntriCut’s specialist CAD technology enables the Notts Sport ChildsPlay team to work with clients to realise their creative visions, creating dynamic patterns, elaborate shapes and illustrations that prevent the need for other equipment or expensive structures.

Scottish Hockey announces Notts Sport as official Facilities Partner

Notts Sport are delighted to announce their new official partnership with Scottish Hockey as official Facilities Partners.

The partnership will be in place for three years as Notts Sport looks to support hockey north of the border in Scotland, replicating the success of similar partnerships with England Hockey & Hockey Wales.

Working in collaboration, Notts Sport and Scottish Hockey aim to grow the game at all levels and support clubs, schools, and local authorities to deliver the best new and refurbished hockey facilities, helping the sport thrive in Scotland.

Notts Sport will become the title partner for the Inter Districts competitions, which will be called the Notts Sport Inter Districts.

Scottish Hockey will also work closely with Notts Sport through HockeyFest which as of 2016 is now run throughout Great Britain. HockeyFest is the social event of the season, offering clubs a fantastic opportunity to promote themselves, show off their current facilities and raise funds for new equipment or projects. HockeyFest, held throughout August and September, is open to everyone and gives clubs the chance to develop unity and excitement and attract new members in the build-up to the season.

David Sweetman, CEO of Scottish Hockey, said: “We’re delighted to work in partnership with Notts Sport to grow hockey in Scotland. With a shared passion for hockey I’m looking forward to a bright future working in collaboration for the benefit of the sport. The expertise available through this partnership will help ensure more quality playing surfaces in Scotland.

Duncan Bennett, Managing Director of Notts Sport said: “Notts Sport are committed to promoting Hockey and have an unrivalled tracking record of delivering high quality facilities as illustrated by our ongoing success in the hockey market throughout the UK. Indeed, we have a vision of becoming the number one brand for Hockey in the UK and this exciting new partnership with Scottish Hockey will help us meet that challenge as we grow over the coming years.

With the recent news that there is significant Scottish representation in the new GB Training Squads for Tokyo 2020, and with our shared values and vision for the sport it feels like an ideal fit and time for Notts Sport and Scottish Hockey to work together as facilities partners.”

GB Medallist Crista Cullen MBE Opens Kent College’s New Hockey Pitch

England Hockey, MultiSport

IMG_7524.jpgimg_0261IMG_7599.jpg

Notts Sport were delighted to welcome Team GB Olympic Gold Medallist Crista Cullen MBE to open the brand new hockey facility at Kent College Pembury in December.

The hockey player led a group coaching session for the girls at the school, offering specialised skills training and guidance before cutting the ribbon to officially open the pitch. The audience of parents, governors, alumni and staff were impressed to hear about the athlete’s journey to Rio, and her thoughts on the importance of a good hockey facility:

“Any school that’s able to have a fantastic Astro Turf in their grounds is brilliant for the school. It’s great to have one here in Kent County, and great that the kids are able to play on it day in day out. That’s what breeds better hockey players. Fundamentally facilities have to be there in order for the kids to be able to replicate what they see on the telly, and if they’re able to have access to it within a school’s grounds it’s all the better. If we’re talking about inspiring people and making sure that people have the ability to be able to play the sport we’ve grown to love over so long we have to be able to have facilities that can replicate that.” Crista Cullen

The sand dressed pitch is the latest addition to an impressive portfolio of state of the art sporting facilities at the renowned girl’s school.

All Abilities Park: Thunder Junction

ChildsPlay

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0076.JPG

The new Thunder Junction All Abilities Park in St. George is a dream come true for children of all abilities. It’s an inclusive park where children can play in spite of their physical limitations.

Children with disabilities often cannot play in a standard play area – and can‘t benefit from the incredible social, physical, and emotional benefits that play provides. Notts Sport were proud to help the City of St. George build this fantastic new park and playground. The remarkable play space offers accessible and sensory-rich equipment that enchants and delights children both with and without disabilities.

The dinosaur themed park features playground equipment that is wheelchair accessible so that all children can enjoy the swings and the slides. Wheelchairs can also board the train which circles the park. Play areas surround a huge volcano as faux-dinosaur skull spills water onto a splash pad.

This universally accessible playground will give all the children in the community the chance to play, to grow, and to learn side-by-side.
