Notts Sport raising money for Motor Neurone Disease

Uncategorized

Notts Sport are not shy of a bit of charity work as they managed to raise a staggering £6,410 last year for The Lord’s Taverners, Notts Sport have now decided to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease.

Notts Sport has chosen to support Motor Neurone Disease Association in an upcoming charity football match being played at the Stoneycroft Sports and Social Club. The date for the event is the 31st May 2015 with kick off at 12 noon. Food and drink will be available throughout the day and admission is £1, All entrance money will be split between Motor Neurone Disease and Myeloma UK.

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurodegerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of the muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

MND can affect any adult at any age but most people are diagnosed with the disease over the age of 40, men are affected twice as often as women, life expectancy after being diagnosed is just 2 to 5 years.

By raising money for MND will help by making peoples life’s much easier to deal with, there are aids to help communicate, to help get in out of the car, to help walk and to get much needed care, along with the research and testing that will hopefully find a cure for this awful disease.

Any donations large or small will be greatly received and we hope that you can make it along to the event.

England Rugby coach Stuart Lancaster opens new Notts Sport facility.

Uncategorized

Stuart Lancaster has recently opened a state of the art 3G facility at Kettlethorpe High School. The England Rugby Head Coach was a teacher at the school from 1992 – 2000. The facility was completed in February 2015 with a Notts Sport’s design and installed Cleveland Land Services and has truly set the standard.

The facility is 97m x 61m in size and is a 60mm 3G pitch, which meets FIFA and IRB standards making the pitch suitable for Rugby and Football. An additional 36 bay carpark area was also installed to make access to the pitch more convenient.

Stuart Lancaster had this to say about the facility and how it has affected the school and the community “I think for me the pitch has completely transformed the school. I was here from 1992 to 2000 so it’s 15 years ago and the hasn’t changed at all but the big change has been the pitch. I remember being at the school and we only had one grass pitch for everyone. The school was massive at the time and I still think it is big now, 1500 kids. That is a lot of people on one pitch and we used to go through the winter months playing on mud and frozen pitches and ramming people into sports halls because we didn’t have a pitch we could play on. This covers all the bases for the school, and the community can use it as well in the evening and weekends…. You can even play contact rugby on it. With the floodlighting as well you can use it all the time. I think it has transformed the school and I think it could be the key for the school and community linking together.”

Stuart Lancaster wasn’t the only person sing the praises of the new multi-use facility. When Kettlethorpe’s head teacher was asked if he would recommend Notts Sport he had this to say. “Absolutely, they have been tremendous. There were questions that we were worried about; planning permission, how best to get the site into play, who to use as contractors and issues that came along when going through the process. We have a positive relationship that we will take into the future and no doubt we will be working with them again with projects that we have got lined up for next year.”
